Martina McBride又名Martina Mariea Schiff，1966年7月29日出生在美国中部堪萨斯州的Sharon市，小时候受到父亲的影响而开始接触乡村音乐，她的父亲是当地一支名叫the Schifters的乡村乐队的核心。从很小的时候开始Martina就在父亲的乐队里演奏键盘或者唱歌，高中毕业以后，她开始在堪萨斯州其他的几支乐队演唱，这个过程中她结识了音乐人John McBride，他们于1990年结婚，不久搬到了乡村音乐的天堂Nashville，Martina也改随夫姓McBride。在Nashville，夫妻俩人都找到了非常好的工作，John开始成为了著名乡村歌星Garth Brooks的制作经理，Martina则在John帮助的几张试音磁带中展露身手，并且在1991年得到了RCA Records唱片公司的合同，同时在丈夫的帮助下，Martina也得到了在Garth Brooks的演唱会上表演的机会，这也为她日后的专辑和单曲在商业上取得不错的成绩也打下了坚实的基础。
